Luke 12:48 states “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” Jonathon Prince is the personification of this statement. His “much” comes in the form of passion, commitment, responsibility, endurance, and perseverance. When these human characteristics are combined, you have……HOPE! Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia had the pleasure of hosting Jonathon and his Hope or Die message on March 30th and 31st as he continued his historic run to Washington, D.C. Jonathon’s commitment to social responsibility is overwhelming and challenges anyone to look in the mirror and ask themselves, am I doing the most to help my community with what I have been given? Jonathon Prince’s Hope or Die campaign challenges us all to do more with our natural abilities.
Jonathon spoke to the students of Highland Springs about overcoming obstacles such as poverty, “neigh sayers”, poor decision making, and stereotypes. He encouraged the 9th and 10th graders to look inward and define the qualities that make them outstanding and then to use those same qualities to help their community to be a better place. The students were engaged with his personal and transparent story, his background, and his pursuits. Jonathon was able to easily identify with our students and form a bond that left many seeking more time and opportunity to spend with him. Kids need inspiration. They need to know that there are people that believe in them. They need to know that despite their current circumstance, that there is hope. Jonathon Prince delivers that in a youthful, energetic, authentic, and engaging way that captivate young minds.
Which leads me to the second part of Luke 12:48…”and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” What’ next? I am not sure what God has in store for Mr. Prince, but whatever it is, I am sure that it will be as life altering as this experience has been for him and the students of Highland Springs High School. A game changer is what Jonathon Prince is. I implore others to join his team! Hope or Die…..We choose Hope!
